Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about pest control, termites, and our services.

TERMITES

Is termite damage covered under my homeowner's insurance policy?

No. Termite damage is not covered under homeowner's insurance, even though termites cause more damage to homes than fires, floods, and hurricanes combined.

Are there termite policies available for my home?

Yes. Termite insurance can be purchased from Bingham Pest Control after you've had a treatment.

What is the difference between subterranean and drywood termites?

Subterranean termites nest deep in the ground and build mud tubes to reach wood in your home. Drywood termites live inside the wood they infest and often enter through openings in eaves and crawl spaces. Both are destructive, but subterranean termites typically cause more damage.

Is fumigation tenting a good treatment for drywood termites?

Yes. Tent fumigation reaches hidden spaces like attics and wall cavities to eliminate every termite. However, it's not always necessary. Your technician will recommend the best approach after an inspection.

How do you know if you have termites?

Signs include: termite droppings (look like coffee grounds or sawdust), mud tubes on surfaces, small holes in wood, swarms near windows, dead termites in sinks or bathtubs, and blistered or peeling wood surfaces.

Why is a termite inspection essential before buying a home?

If you don't get an inspection and there's an infestation, it becomes your problem after you buy. A WDO inspection protects your investment.

Why is a termite inspection important before selling your home?

A clear pest report can be a selling point for buyers and helps ensure a smoother closing.

GENERAL PEST CONTROL

How often should I have my home treated for pests?

Most Tampa Bay homes benefit from quarterly treatments to stay ahead of Florida's year-round pest pressure. We also offer monthly and annual options depending on your situation.

What's included in a pest control service visit?

Every visit includes an inspection of your property, treatment of problem areas, and preventive measures to keep pests from coming back. We target pests at their source, not just the ones you see.

Do you offer one-time treatments or only recurring plans?

We offer both. One-time treatments work well for specific problems or real estate transactions. Recurring plans provide ongoing protection.

Are your treatments safe for kids and pets?

Yes. We use products and methods that are effective against pests but safe for your family when applied properly. We'll let you know if there are any specific precautions for a particular treatment.

What if pests come back between treatments?

Our 100% Service Guarantee means if pests return, we will too, at no additional charge.
